Open Letter to the Right Honourable Prime Minister Carney of Canada
Dear Prime Minister Carney,
On behalf of the Chinese community associations in Montréal and across Canada, we are honored to extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations as you prepare for your forthcoming official meeting with the leadership of the People’s Republic of China. This historic occasion, coinciding with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, has captured global attention and brought great joy to the peoples of both nations.
Over the past fifty-five years, the bridge of friendship spanning the Pacific between China and Canada has withstood the tests of time and change. From Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau’s historic establishment of diplomatic ties to today’s renewed dialogue and deepening cooperation, our two nations have achieved remarkable progress in education, science and technology, trade, culture, and environmental protection—offering the world a model of mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and peaceful coexistence.
For Chinese Canadians across this great country, this forthcoming meeting represents far more than a diplomatic event—it is a moment of deep emotional resonance and shared pride. While we live, work, and contribute to Canada—the land of the maple—we remain closely connected to our ancestral homeland and to the evolving relationship between China and Canada. We firmly believe that a stable, constructive, and cooperative partnership between our two countries will foster new opportunities, strengthen mutual trust, and contribute meaningfully to global peace and prosperity.
We sincerely wish this high-level dialogue between China and Canada every success. May both nations, guided by mutual respect, equality, and shared benefit, embark together upon a new era of cooperation and friendship.
May the friendship between China and Canada endure forever!
